Thames River Garden Club Minutes
June 16, 2016
President Everett Munroe called the June 16, 2016 meeting of the TRGC to order at 12:05 P.M. Everett thanked hostesses Josie Esposito, Ethel Gerity,Mary Ann Hauser, Brenda Kramer, Phyllis Teeson, and Ginny Roesler for a beautiful luncheon at Enders Island.
Everett welcomed the following guests who joined the club for the luncheon:
Evelyn Widham, Claire McCarter, Christina Taylor, and Mike Nauer.
The reading of the minutes of the May meeting was waived. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Jerry Theiler and seconded by Pam Atkins. The minutes were unanimously accepted by the membership.
President’s report:
Everett Munroe informed the membership that he and Pam Atkins are diligently working on flower show planning.
Phyllis Cushing shared a tip for extending the bloom of Peonies: pick when the bud is large and feels like a marshmallow; seal in a ziplock bag & place in the refrigerator. When you want a fresh bloom, take one out and it will open. Buds will keep up to 1 month in the refrigerator.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:15 PM.

TRGC Sept. 15, 2016 Meeting Reminder:
The Sept. 15, 2016 meeting of the Thames River Garden Club will be held at the Waterford Public Library beginning at 11:30 AM. It is time to “Step Up and Get Ready” for a flower show in 2017. Our programs this year will be preparing us for this. We will begin with Trish Manfredi demonstrating how to create flower arrangements that will wow the judges and engage viewers.
